据了解，在今年的竞赛中，参赛作品来自145个国家，集中在6个类别：自然世界(Natural World)、美国风情(The American Experience)、旅行(Travel)、人物(People)、后期(Altered Images)和移动(Mobile)。除了由史密森学会选出的大奖得主和类别优胜者外，公众还可以选择出他们眼中的优胜者，投票截止日期为3月30日。
